iPhone 14 Release Announced
Apple iPhone and Apple Watch enthusiasts are gearing up for the launch of the iPhone 14 lineup. Apple is planning their launch event for September 7th, with a likely release date for the new iPhones on September 16th.
Changes expected in the coming line of Apple’s flagship product include camera improvements, different model sizes, and faster chips for the iPhone 14 Pro models. Exciting things are coming to your favorite smartphone—and from GRAY® luxury iPhone cases.
iPhone 14 Models & Sizes
One of the most notable rumoured changes to the iPhone 14 lineup is the elimination of the 5.4-inch “mini” version available for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.
There will likely be four models released, two standard, and two Max:
- iPhone 14 (6.1-inch screen)
- iPhone 14 Max (6.7-inch screen)
- iPhone 14 Pro (6.1-inch screen)
- iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7-inch screen)
Releasing the standard iPhone 14 with a 6.7-inch screen would mark the first time a non-Pro Apple iPhone is available with a display of that size.
iPhone 14 Camera Upgrades
All iPhone 14 models are expected to get an upgraded front camera with autofocus and f/1.9 aperture. However, the most notable camera upgrades will be in the Pro line of the iPhone 14.
The camera system on iPhone 14 Pro models will appear slightly larger due to an impressive 48-megapixel wide-angle camera alongside 12-megapixel ultra-wide and telephoto sensors.
Improvements to video recording and battery life are expected to support the Pro’s camera upgrades. The longer battery life and bigger camera system will slightly increase the iPhone 14 Pro’s thickness.
Finally, the iPhone 14 Pro models will replace the front-facing camera cutout, known as “the notch.” Instead, they will feature a pill-shaped hole for Face ID sensors and a hole punch front-facing camera. This will provide slightly more screen space along with a sleeker look.
New A16 Chip For iPhone 14 Pro Models
The standard models of the iPhone 14 will retain the A15 Bionic chip used in the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 Pros will be fitted with the new A16 Bionic chip. This follows the strategy Apple used in the release of the A15 chip in iPhone 13 Pros.
While there are always a few surprises when Apple releases a new chip, we can definitely count on increased CPU and GPU speeds. You’ll have greater performance (and graphics) out of the iPhone 14 Pros. This really differentiates the standard and Pro model iPhones: if you want the very best iPhone on the market, the Pro models are going to be the ultimate choice.
Apple Watch Pro Release
Along with the new iPhone lineup, Apple will be releasing a new Apple Watch Pro with a slightly different design, larger size, and higher price tag. Described as a “rugged” Apple Watch and aimed at Apple enthusiasts who do extreme sports, it will feature a more durable case and shatter-resistant display. The case will be made from a new titanium alloy that can withstand use in extreme conditions.
The larger size, and price tag, is expected to appeal to certain customers—those who desire an Apple Watch that they can use while participating in extreme sports and those who want the “look.” Undoubtedly, the Apple watch Pro will appeal to those who like to stand out, make a statement, and set fashion trends.
